Artist Statement for Lulu McPharlin, founder of Emerge EXP
I’ve always had a deep desire to create aesthetic experiences that:
- Inspire people to explore and value themselves
- Encourage people to open their minds to multiple possibilities
- Give people permission to let go of their “shoulds”
- Create a safe space for people to play
The mediums I typically work in are collage, photography, acrylic paint, installation, social experimentation, and experience design. With a background in mental health therapy and coaching, I use art as a tool for empowering and inspiring people, particularly women, and for building and nurturing creative communities.
